H.E. U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for Ministry of International Cooperation and Chairman of the Task Force to facilitate provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar through AHA Centre attended the Consultative Meeting on ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar

Myanmar Delegation led by H.E. U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for Ministry of International Cooperation and Chairman of the Task Force to facilitate provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar through the AHA Centre, accompanied by members of the Task Force; H.E. Dr. Aye Tun, Deputy Minister for Ministry of Health, H.E. U Aung Tun Khaing, Deputy Minister for Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and officials from relevant Ministries attended the Consultative Meeting on ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar held on 6 May 2022 in Phnom Penh.

The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia in his capacity as the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair and H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN in his capacity as the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance Coordinator. The Meeting was also attended by the Head of Missions of ASEAN Member States in Phnom Penh, the Representatives of UN Agencies, the External Partners of ASEAN and the AHA Centre.

The Meeting discussed on the provision of Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar with the principle of “Leaving no one behind”, the operational challenges to ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar and the Framework for COVID-19 Vaccine Administration in Myanmar especially for hard-to-reach areas.

The Meeting also welcomed the implementation of the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance Delivery Arrangement in the areas identified by Myanmar Task Force based on actual needs and gaps.

The Meeting reaffirmed commitments from Myanmar Task Force, ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Secretariat and the AHA Centre to facilitate swift and effective implementation of the Phase 2 Humanitarian Assistance under the Point 4 of the Five-Point Consensus of the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting. The Meeting also discussed expedition of continued provisions of humanitarian assistance by conducting the pilot projects in mutually agreed areas.
